Adequately deals with the prompt,充分说明题目的要求。
Development, structure and coherence:
General linguistic range:
Vocabulary range:
Sometimes, you have to give feedback to others’ work, the work done by your classmates or coworkers. Which kind of feedback will you give at first, the negative one or the positive one?
As we live in a connected world, toachieve a better result, at times, it is inevitable that we have to work as a team with others. However, working with others includes giving feedbacks, both positive and negative, to other’s work, and it brings us to the question whether we should point out their problems orgive a credit forthe praiseworthy part that they have done at first? Given the possible consequences, I think it is advisable to give the positive feedbacks first.
To begin with, praising people before pointing out their defectsturns them into a good mood, which makes it easier for them to accept the following negative feedback. Suggested by various researches, people tend tohave stronger reactions towardsnegative message, like opposing opinions or critical remarks, which maygive rise to their defensive or even hostile emotions, and they may refuse to accept it. Most of us have the experience of being required to work on a project or an assignment in collaboration with our classmates or colleagues, and we usually cannot get everything right at the first place. For instance, you are working on a presentation with your classmate, for her part, shemade a great effort toprepare it but forgot to include some crucial statistics, making the presentation less cogent and may affecting the whole grading of your team. If you express your appreciation for her work at first and thenlay your finger on the problem, she may be grateful for your kind remind instead of getting upset about the negative feedback.
Furthermore, conveying negative messages after the positive ones makes the ensuing discussion much more constructive and meaningful, for others are more likely to adopt the measurements on improving their work. As stated above, people are inclined to bemore receptive tonegative feedback after the praise, and therefore, it is the proper time tooffer a constructive suggestion. After you point out the weak point in the part of your classmate’s presentation, in the next stage, you can discuss what should be included into the work and how to make it more convincing, so that both of you can achieve a better grade. And it turns out to be an advisable choice for you toget a desirable outcome.
Thus, expressing approval before disapproval, when we are required to give a feedback, appears to be a sensible choice for us to work towards a satisfied result.
